Screenshot Protection

Sensitive balances and amounts blur automatically in screenshots and the app switcher — accidental shares stay private.

Why one careless screenshot is a real privacy leak

One careless screenshot of your transactions is a privacy leak. Budgie applies platform screenshot-prevention APIs to balance fields and amount cells, plus a blur in the iOS/Android task switcher preview.

Configurable per-screen — disable for receipts you actually want to share, leave on for the home screen.

What you get

FLAG_SECURE on Android — no OS-level screenshot, no screen recording

App-switcher blur on iOS — passersby see only a smudge

Per-screen toggle — disable for receipts you actually want to share

Off by default for the categories and analytics screens — sharing budget views is fine

Combines with PIN lock and biometric unlock for layered defense

How it works

Settings → Privacy → Screenshot protection. Toggle individual screens. The runtime applies FLAG_SECURE on Android and a blur layer on iOS in app-switcher state.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does screenshot protection actually do?
On Android, FLAG_SECURE prevents the OS from capturing screenshots. On iOS, sensitive views render a blur overlay in the app-switcher preview when Budgie goes to background.
Can I disable it for receipts I want to share?
Yes — Settings → Privacy → Screenshot protection. Toggle individual screens. The transaction-list screen and home screen are the typical "always on" candidates.
Does it survive screen-recording apps?
On Android, FLAG_SECURE blocks screen recording too. On iOS, the OS-level recording bypasses app-switcher blur, so this is more of a "passersby" defense than a "rootkit" defense.
Will Face ID still work with the blur on?
Yes. The blur applies to the app-switcher preview, not the foreground rendering. Face ID continues to work normally.
